The sequel to the original Wasteland took 25 years to release. The series’ third instalment, Wasteland 3, however will be coming in a much shorter time-frame. InXile Entertainment has announced Wasteland 3 for PC, Xbox One and PS4.
Wasteland 3 is a party-based RP. You play as the lone survivor of Ranger squad Team November in Colorado. InXile explained the setting further in the announcement saying:
“No one here has ever heard of the Desert Rangers. Your reputation is yours to build from scratch, and your choices may save this land or doom it. With a renewed focus on macro-reactivity, you’ll be picking between warring factions, deciding whether locations are destroyed or saved, and other far-reaching decisions that have a marked impact on the shape of your world.”
Wasteland 3 introduces major new features to the series. Now featuring a co-op mode that allows players to play with friends in real time, partying up to complete missions together or splitting off to complete separate goals. Players can play the game whilst their partner is offline, advancing the game for them to discover when they return.
New upgradeable vehicles can be used for travel and transportation, but also serve as options in combat, functioning as mobile cover or mobile turrets. The Ranger base from previous games returns in Wasteland 3, but this time InXile says the feature is “much more involved”, you help set up a new base that you can use for research, setting up trade and contacting other factions.
A crowdfunding campaign for the game launches on Fig on October 5th with a goal of $2.75 million. Stay tuned to nuGame for more details when the campaign launches next week. Consider following us on Twitter and liking us on Facebook.
